Scholarship Opportunities

This year SEFSA will be giving away (2) $500.00 scholarships for high school seniors. Applicants must have played fastpitch or umpired for SEFSA for the past three consecutive years. For further information please call our office at 605-728-1040.

Sioux Empire Fastpitch Softball Association, Inc (2) $500.00 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM REGULATIONS

A. Eligibility

  1. Must have been in SEFSA program for three consecutive seasons either as an umpire, player or both.
  2. Applicant must be a candidate for graduation from high school.
  3. Applicant must have a 2.0 average and complete the necessary forms furnished by the scholarship committee. A guidance counselor and/or principal will complete forms on each applicant.
  4. The scholarship may be used for expenses in any accredited two-or four-year college or university, business school, trade or technical school approved by the scholarship committee.

Applicant must exhibit leadership, citizenship and ambition. Please attach the results of SAT or ACT tests, which may be of use to the committee.

B. Financial Consideration

  1. The scholarship will be in the form of a grant.
  2. Payment of the grant shall be made in the form of a check co-payable to recipient and approved school. In the event a student withdraws during the term, an effort will be made to regain any unused portion.
  3. Notification of acceptance from the school the recipient will be attending will be required to process the check. Requests for the funds must be made within one year of scholarship notification date.
  4. Recipient may accept other scholarships or financial aid. The scholarship committee will decide questions concerning this.
  5. All other factors being equal, financial need will be given preference.

C. Procedures for Selecting Recipients

  1. Must complete a three hundred-word essay on how softball made impact on his/her life.
  2. Applications shall be returned to SEFSA no later than June 30, 2010.
  3. Screening will be done as much as possible from application forms, but the committee has the privilege of requesting a personal interview.
  4. Recipient will be awarded the scholarship at the annual Foundation Recognition program in July 2010.
  5. SEFSA scholarship committees are requested to screen applicants.
