Two High School seniors were featured in November issues of Sports Illustrated.
Kelli Heiser, a senior at Watertown High, threw 43 2/3 of her team’s 47 innings on a single day to help the Arrows go 6-1 and win the state Class AA softball tournament. She had a 1.44 ERA and 27 strikeouts, and also drove in six runs. During the regular season Kelli, who was named all-tournament and all-state, led the Arrows with 27
Katelyn Mallinger, a senior at West Central High, threw 34 1/3 of her team’s 35 innings to help the Trojans go 4-1 and win their fourth consecutive state Class B championship. She had a 0.75 ERA and 38 strikeouts in the five games and also led the team with 10 RBIs. In four state tournaments combined, Katelyn had a 20-2 record, including three no-hitters.
